What the scaffold looks like
For a typical bungalow with a 30 to 35 degree pitch, we build a single boarded working lift set just below the eaves, running the length of the array. Double guardrails, toe boards and a ladder access bay complete it. If the array is large enough to justify it, we add a small loading bay so panels are not being passed along the platform one at a time.
Do you still need scaffolding on a bungalow?
Yes, in nearly all cases. The eaves on a bungalow are typically 2.4 to 3 metres up, which is more than enough for a fall to cause serious injury, and installers still need to handle heavy modules at height. The regulations do not switch off below a certain height.
What does change is the cost and the time. A bungalow scaffold is often up in two to three hours.
