Chimney Scaffolding & Stack Access
Chimney work is high, awkward and unforgiving, and the access has to reflect that. Whether the stack is being repointed, re-flaunched, rebuilt from the roofline or removed entirely, we build a platform that puts a bricklayer at a comfortable working height on all four faces with proper edge protection and a safe route up.
For most domestic stacks we build an independent scaffold to eaves level with a chimney tower carried up from the working lift, supported off the roof with a crash deck or a properly designed roof-level frame so no load lands on the tiles. Where the stack sits mid-slope or on a party wall, we design the tower around it rather than forcing a standard solution.
Access in older East Sussex and Kent towns is rarely straightforward. Hastings, Rye, Lewes and Canterbury all have narrow lanes, listed frontages and shared alleyways. We survey first, agree pavement licences and neighbour permissions where needed, and get the tubes in by hand when the wagon cannot get close.
All chimney scaffolds are erected by CISRS carded scaffolders, tagged, and inspected every seven days. If the stack is being taken down we can also add a debris chute and bin so the demolition never travels through the air.

Do I need a full scaffold just for a chimney?
Usually yes. Safe stack access needs a stable platform reached from a proper scaffold, not a ladder, so most jobs need eaves-level scaffold plus a chimney tower.
Will the scaffold damage my roof?
No. We spread any roof-level load through a designed frame or crash deck and never bear directly on tiles or slates.
